This consultation is part of the NHS reforms outlined in the NHS White Paper. It is asking people's views on giving local authorities a stronger role in public health improvement and the promotion of joint working.

Regulating health care providers

As part of the NHS White Paper, the Department of Health is asking people their views on regulating health care providers. This consultation is asking views about freeing providers from central government controls and developing an independent monitoring body for health and social care.

Consultation on NHS Outcomes Framework

As part of the NHS reforms introduced in the recent White Paper, the Department of Health is consulting on a set of outcome goals through which the NHS will be made more accountable.

It is asking people to give their view on the principles behind the framework, the proposed structure and approach, how to reduce health inequalities and potential outcome indicators.

Although it is asking for the public's views, it is a complex consultation document which is available to download below.

Evidence needed of disability harassment

Members of the public are being asked for evidence of being harassed due to their or someone else's disability.

The evidence is being collected by the Equality and Human Rights Commission to see if public bodies such as Councils, schools and the Police and public transport providers are meeting their legal obligations to prevent disabled people being harassed.

Dying Matters survey

Dying Matters is a national coalition led by the National Council for Palliative Care, It is carrying out a survey as part of its work on advanced planning to make sure that people's wishes for their death are followed.

Your choice of GP practice

This consultation is asking for views on proposals which give patients a greater choice of GP practices. Under these proposals, people would be able to choose a GP practice that best suits their needs, for example keeping their GP if they move home or being able to choose a female GP.

 The consultation has been extended and now closes on 2 July 2010.
